September 14
Here’s the basic plan for the day. Everyone is welcome to come and go as they please.
11:00am Guided hike with Ranger Jeff
Come see where a major in playing will get you! Jeff has learned a lot about the human and natural history of Shevlin Park–come listen as he interprets the area. There will be a “novice” length for non-hikers, and a longer version available for those who want a bit of exercise.
Show up any time to catch up with family and friends, to check out the swimming hole, the covered bridge, or other beautiful parts of Shevlin Park. You’re in Central Oregon, we want to give you the chance to take advantage!
We’ll also have fun stuff to play with like frisbees, games like croquet and badminton, and even fishing poles to use in the kids’ fishing pond.
2 pm: Music
We’re excited to have Old Wave play for us all.
2 pm: BBQ
Also still in the planning stages, but the plan is to grill local beef and some kind of fish. Still working on a non-animal option, but everything will be accompanied by some Oregon-grown seasonal produce like tomatoes, corn, and green beans. Also, local beverages, of course. Yay summer!
4 pm: Cake!
So this will probably be the most traditional thing we do. I never miss an opportunity for cake.
4 pm into the night: Hang out
We’ll keep going until the food and drink is gone–we want some quality hang-out time with everyone!

Can’t wait to see everybody. I’m flying into Medford on Friday and then driving with Gloria and Rosie over to Bend. They will be coming, in case they haven’t rsvp’d. Sounds like a wonderful day. I”m looking forward to the hike.
